Largemouth Bass
Under the water where the lake is shallow,
A ten pound largemouth bass is there
Watching over the 10,000 eggs that a female bass laid this spring.
The male bass is waiting for anything
That comes within six feet away from the nest
To ATTACK.
The female bass is hunting for food
Like insects, shrimp, bluegill frogs
Crawfish, birds, lizards, and more.
The female’s beautiful colors shimmer,
Silver strips along her back
And a green body that attracts her prey.
It is 56 degrees in the water,
Just the right temperature for a bass.
Snap!
Looks like the female got a shrimp for dinner!
It’s Raining, It’s Pouring
(a thesaurus poem)
It’s dewing, it’s flooding.
The fossil dude is wheezing.
He went to his cot and smashed his noggin,
And he couldn’t roll out in the sunrise.
Monsoon, torrent, get out of here!
Don’t show up another diurnal course!
I am a Young Eagle now!
I went on a fun flight on a small airplane. I got to sit in the front. We flew around White River Junction and Hanover in fifteen minutes. Like come on! That’s got to be a record!
Then when we were done, we went to the control tower. There were about fifty stairs. There were a lot of buttons. Then I looked out the window. It felt like I could see the world, but I could only see the runways.
After that, we got to eat lunch at the airport too.
Young Eagles was awesome!
